Chrysler recalled 161,450 2007 and 2008 Jeep Wranglers not equipped with a transmission fluid temperature warning system, the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration announced Monday.
Without this system, transmission fluid could boil over without the driver knowing, and possibly come into contact with a hot engine or exhaust component and potentially start a fire.
Dealers will install a “hot oil” message with a chime that indicates transmission fluid needs attention.
