Action Figure Recall due to Lead Paint Violation
Military action figurines recalled by Jide Trading of Commerce, Calif., may contain excessive amounts of lead in surface paint that violates federal lead paint standards. The lead paint toy recall affects about 2,100 toys that were sold at dollar stores and discount stores from November 2008 to April 2009. Consumers should immediately take toys from children and contact the company for a refund.
Lead poisoning is 100 percent preventable
Lead-based paint is the largest cause of lead poisoning in children, according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. Keep your child safe:
- Take any recalled toys or toy jewelry away from children. These recalls are often because of lead concerns.
- Check for lead recalls from the CPSC
- Regularly wash children’s hands and toys
Lead poisoning can be difficult to spot. Even those with no symptoms can have high lead levels in their blood. Symptoms in children can include:
- Learning difficulties
- Unusual paleness from anemia
- Constipation
