City Transit Bus Recall due to Possible Steering Defect

busA city transit bus recall involves a potential steering defect in 226 North American Bus Industries, Inc., (NABI) 416 models from 2009, according to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA). The recalled buses were manufactured between October 2008 and December 2009 and have a potential defect in the steering gear assembly, in which a mounting plate may not have been welded correctly.

If the weld does not hold, the plate may become separated, which could result in a loss of steering control to the driver and therefore increasing the risk of a crash. NABI will notify owners and repair the vehicles for free.
