Summit Tree Stand Recall After Falls, Broken Bones Reported

summit defective tree standA Summit brand hunting stand recall involves Talon Hunting hang-on tree stands and Cabela’s Realtree stands that can suddenly detach, posing a fall hazard to users.

The manufacturer has received four reports of brackets failing, resulting in falls and injuries, including broken bones, according to the Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC). The recall involves about 6,800 defective hunting tree stands manufactured by Summit Treestands LLC, of Decatur, Ala., and includes the following models:

  • rsEagle 82044
  • rsOsprey 82041
  • rsFalcon 82042
  • rsHawk 82043
  • Cabelas Realtree Outfitters Series Hawk Deluxe 81509 with Talon brackets and straps

Model information is printed on a safety label sewn onto the seat. Owners should stop using the stands and contact Summit Treestands for replacement brackets/straps.

    What does brackets failing mean? Did they snap off, slip off, bend? I hunted with them all year and never felt unsafe. Its actually the most solid hang on I have sat in. I wonder how much these four out of 6,800 people weighs? Its cool summit is replacing them though.
