Wisconsin Cheeseman Listeria Recall Related to Parker’s Farm Recall
A cheese listeria recall involves cheese log and cheese ball products produced by Parker’s Farm, Inc. and distributed by Sun Prairie, Wisc.-based Wisconsin Cheeseman, according to the Food and Drug Administration. Parker’s Farm recently issued a recall of all its products. Both recalls are a result of concerns over Listeria monocytogenes contamination, which is a potentially deadly bacteria that can cause an illness known as listeriosis. The recalled products include:
- Sausage ‘N Cheese Logs – Gift #11
- Cheese Logs & Cutting Board – Gift #87
- Smorgasbord – Gift #325
- Cheese Log Trio – Gift #365
- Cheese Logs – Gift #411
- Cheese Ball Trio – Gift #441
- Cheese Logs – Gift #509
- Snacker Pack – Gift #751
- Cheese Balls & Sausages – Gift #876
Consumers who have these recalled products should not eat them and should return them to Wisconsin Cheeseman for a refund or replacement. However, anyone who has eaten the recalled products and suspects they may have contracted listeriosis as a result should keep the product, as it can be evidence in a listeriosis claim. The incubation period for listeriosis can be long, with symptoms emerging as late as 70 after eating the tainted food.
Symptoms of a listeria case can include: fever, severe headaches, stiffness, diarrhea, nausea and abdominal pain. Listeria can cause stillbirth or miscarriage in pregnant women.
