A Yamaha Nytro snowmobile recall involves about 2,500 units with steering defects
Yamaha Motor Corporation of Cypress, Calif., is recalling 2009 model year FX10 snowmobiles, according to the Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC). A bolt on these defective snowmobiles can loosen in the suspension and steering system, possibly causing the operator to suddenly lose steering control, increasing the risk of a snowmobile crash.
“The CPSC estimates that each year about 110 people die while riding snowmobiles. The Commission estimates that about 13,400 hospital emergency room-treated injuries occur each year with snowmobiles. Approximately two-fifths or 40 percent of the reported deaths resulted from colliding with trees, wires, bridges, and other vehicles.”
The recalled Yamaha Nytro snowmobiles were sold by Yamaha dealers nationwide from June 2008 through January 2010. Owners should immediately stop using the vehicles and contact a Yamaha dealer for a free repair. The recall includes units bearing the following model numbers:

| FX Nytro | FX10Y |
| FX Nytro XTX | FX10XTY |
| FX Nytro RTX | FX10RTRY |
| FX Nytro MTX | FX10MTRY |
