Dorel Maxi-Cosi Car Seat Recall
A car seat recall by Dorel Juvenile Group (DJG) affects 22,850 Maxi-Cosi Mico Infant Child Restraint System car seats in which the shell may not properly attach to the base of the seat, according to a National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) announcement. This increases the risk of serious injury to the child in the seat in the event of a car accident. According to a statement on Dorel’s Web site:
“This voluntary recall is in response to Dorel Juvenile Group’s identification of a small number of units where the car seat will latch into the base, but may not fully lock…As indicated in the instructions, pulling on the seat to check for appropriate installation, will normally allow the seat to fall into place. This notice potentially affects 22,850 units. Less than 200 remain on retailers’ shelves. Models produced after June 28, 2008 have the redesigned base with the new spring.”
The recalled car seats include the following model numbers:
- MAXI-COSI / 22-371 HFL
- MAXI-COSI / 22-371 JUC
- MAXI-COSI / 22-371 LMD

- MAXI-COSI / 22-371 PNG
- MAXI-COSI / 22-372 TTH
