Fresh & Easy Salmonella Granola Bar Recall

fresh & easy granola barsA Salmonella recall involves Fresh & Easy brand Chewy Chocolate Chip granola bars, the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) announced.

The granola bars, recalled by California-based Fresh & Easy Neighborhood Market Inc., could be contaminated with Salmonella. The potential contamination is a result of a recall by one of the company’s suppliers, Thumb Oilseed Producers. Thumbseed recalled an ingredient that was used to make the granola bars.

 

Salmonella Infection (Salmonellosis) Information

Salmonella symptoms can be flu-like initially, but in certain people, including children and the elderly, it can be serious and even fatal. A particularly serious potential Salmonella complication that can arise is Reiter’s Syndrome, often called “reactive arthritis.”

Even in healthy people, salmonellosis can cause fever, diarrhea, bloody diarrhea, vomiting, stomach pain and nausea. If you think you’ve been infected with Salmonella, see a doctor right away.
