Honda Airbag Recall Expanded
A Honda air bag recall involves an additional 378,758 vehicles more than an earlier Honda airbag recall, American Honda Motor Company announced Tuesday.
This brings the 15-month-old Honda airbag vehicle recall total to nearly 1 million. According to Honda:
“The driver’s airbag inflators in these vehicles may deploy with too much pressure, which can cause the inflator casing to rupture and could result in injury or fatality.”
The company is aware of 12 incidents related to the airbag problems and consequently has recalled 2001 and 2002 model year vehicles. The latest cars in the recall include:
- 2001 and 2002 Accord
- 2001 and 2002 Civic
- 2001 and 2002 Odyssey
- 2001 and 2002 CR-V
- selected 2002 Acura TL
Honda will notify owners of affected vehicles beginning this month. Upon notification, owners should take their car to an authorized dealer.
