Civia Bike Accidents Prompt Recall
A Civia bike recall has been issued due to accidents and injuries associated with defective bike parts, according to the Consumer Products Safety Commission (CPSC). Bloomington, Minnesota-based Civia Cycles is aware of two reports of bike parts cracking and one instance of the bike part breaking, which caused injury to the cyclist, including cuts on the face and bruised ribs.

- Part: Civia bicycle forks
- Number of units recalled: About 800
- Description: Forks are black with the word “Civia” carved into them.
- Bike models: The defective forks were included on Civia “Hyland” bikes and sold as aftermarket products separately
- Sold at: Specialty bike retailers nationwide, April 2008 through February 2010
Owners should stop riding the bicycles and contact Civia for a replacement part.
