Dozens of child injuries have prompted the recall of 2.5 million potentially defective Push Around and Whisper Ride buggies, according to the Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC).
The manufacturer, Step 2 Company of Streetsboro, Ohio has received 28 reports of the buggy handle detaching due to a loose pin. Two of these incidents involved child injuries that required professional medical attention and 26 involved scrapes and scratches. The toys come in various colors and have a red “Step 2″ logo on the handle. They were sold at major retailers and specialty stores from August 1999 through March 2010. Parents should immediately stop children from using the toys and contact the manufacturer for a repair kit.
