EZ Loader Adjustable Boat Trailers, Inc. is recalling 2010 EZ Loader Single Axle boat trailers, according to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA).
The spindle can separate from the axle, which could allow the tire and wheel to come loose from the trailer. This could cause a trailer accident. Dealers will send repair teams out to fix the defective boat trailers for free. Otherwise, owners may bring the trailers to a dealer for the repairs. Models included in the defective boat trailer recall include:
| Vehicle Make / Model: | Model Year(s): | |
| EZ LOADER / EZB | 2010 | |
| EZ LOADER / EZR | 2010 | |
| EZ LOADER / EZSCB | 2010 | |
| EZ LOADER / EZWB | 2010 | |
| EZ LOADER / STCB | 2010 |
Boat Trailer Defect Accident Lawsuit
A defective boat trailer hitch can contribute to or cause a serious or even fatal car accident. For example, one lawsuit was settled for $350,000 when a defective boat trailer was being pulled by a drunk driver. The boat trailer came loose, partly due to a product defect and partly due to the drunk driver hitting a curb with the trailer. Once the trailer came detached, it hit another vehicle and immediately killed the driver.
