Specialty Farms Alfalfa Sprout Listeria Recall Expanded
An earlier recall of alfalfa sprouts by Specialty Farms has recently been expanded due to the potential of Listeria contamination, the Food and Drug Administration announced. A Listeria infection, known as listeriosis, can be especially harmful to children and the elderly. It can also cause miscarriage or stillbirth in pregnant women.
Specialty-Farms, LLC is recalling Specialty Farms brand Organic Alfalfa Sprouts Blend and Organic Sprout Salad, in 4 ounce plastic containers, with a best if sold by date of 8/3/2010. See below:

The firm is also recalling Stop & Shop brand Natures Promise Organic Alfalfa Sprouts in 4 ounce containers and 8 ounce bags AND Natures Promise Organic Zesty Sprouts in 4 ounce containers, best if sold by date of 8/1/2010. See below:
