Valley Meat Co. E. coli Recall Affects California Supermarkets
New information about a beef E. coli recall by Valley Meat Company of Modesto, California has been published by the USDA’s Food Safety and Inspection Service (FSIS). The retail distribution list has been announced and shows that the potentially E. coli contaminated beef has been widely distributed throughout the state of California to the stores listed below.
The recall was initially announced on August 6, and involves approximately 1 million pounds of frozen ground beef products that could be contaminated with E. coli O157:H7. Products affected by the recall have the USDA establishment number EST 8268, and were produced from October 2, 2009, to January 12, 2010. The recall came after seven cases of E. coli were associated with the Valley Meat Co. beef products by California state health officials.
