On September 7 during an inspection, New York State milk inspectors found a failure of pasteurization equipment at the Menands milk plant. None of the recalled milk products tested positive for foodborne pathogens.
No illnesses have been reported to date to the New York State Department of Health in connection with this problem. Consumers should not use or consume the recalled products, even if it does not appear or smell spoiled. Many pathogens do not cause spoilage or an odor.
