Listeria Recall of Chicken Products in Texas
Chicken Listeria contamination fears have prompted a recall of about 11,240 pounds of ready-to-eat chicken products in Texas. Pilgrim’s Pride Corporation, which is based in Mount Pleasant, Texas and Waco, Texas issued the recall, according to the USDA’s Food Safety and Inspection Service (FSIS).
The contamination was discovered by on-site internal product testing. A description of the recalled products follows:
- 10 lb. boxes containing 2 5-lb bags of Sweet Georgia Brand Fully Cooked Breaded White Chicken Nuggets Shaped Patties
- 30 lb. boxes containing 6 5-lb bags of Pilgrim’s Pride Fully Cooked Grilled Chicken Breast Fillet with Rib Meat
The Sweet Georgia Brand Fully Cooked Breaded White Chicken Nuggets Shaped Patties bear a 11471010 date code and the establishment number of P-7091A on the box. The products were packaged and distributed in 5-pound bags marked with the date code and establishment number as well. They were produced May 27, and shipped to New Jersey and Texas distribution centers.
The Pilgrim’s Pride Fully Cooked Grilled Chicken Breast Fillet with Rib Meat has a 11801050 date code and a Dec. 26 “use by” date on the box. The products were produced on June 29 and shipped to an Ohio distribution center.
