Shady Brook Farms Turkey Salmonella Recall
Shady Brook Farms turkey burgers are being recalled in connection with a nationwide Salmonella Heidelberg ground turkey outbreak. This is part of a larger Cargill turkey salmonella recall involving 36 million pounds of ground turkey products.
The Shady Brook Farms turkey burgers along with other ground turkey products have been associated with a multistate outbreak of Salmonella Heidelberg. This strain of salmonella has been determined to be resistant to traditional antibiotic treatments, according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC).

A total of 77 people have become sick in this outbreak. One death has been reported. There are cases in 26 states. These illnesses have been tracked since March 1, 2011 up until August 1, 2011. More recent cases may not be reported yet. The distribution of illnesses across the country is as follows: AL (1), AZ (2), CA (6), GA (1), IA (1), IL (7), IN (1), KY (2), LA (1), MA (1), MI (10), MN (1), MO (2), MS (1), NC (1), NE (2), NV (1), NY (2), OH (10), OK (1), OR (1), PA (5), SD (3), TN (2), TX (9), and WI (3).
