Burn Injuries Prompt Grill Recall
Several burn injury reports have prompted the recall of 4,600 Kuuma Stow and Go grills, according to the Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC). The hazardous grill recall was issued by Eastwind Industries, Inc., of San Leandro, California because the grills can develop a propane tank leak. This can happen if the fuel container isn’t completely threaded on the regulator during installation.
Five Fires Caused by Recalled Agio Gas Columns
Recalled Agio brand outdoor fire columns can pose a fire hazard to homes. A Consumer Products Safety Commission (CPSC) report announced this fire hazard recall. Thousands of Patio Glow Outdoor Gas Fire Columns are being recalled by Agio International due to a potential gas leak in the connections in the column. The company is aware of five fires started by these fire columns, which are powered by propane gas.
Carbon Monoxide Risk Prompts Fireplace Damper Recall
A fireplace damper recall has been issued due to a carbon monoxide poisoning risk, according to the Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC). Simpson Dura-Vent Company, Inc., of Vacaville, California is recalling certain DuraTech Anchor Plates with dampers and DuraChimney II Anchor Plates with dampers because they may not have been assembled correctly or may be defective.
Opening and closing the damper may result in the damper becoming stuck. Some dampers were assembled backwards as well. Both of these defects can result in a lack of proper chimney / fireplace ventilation, which can pose a carbon monoxide poisoning hazard.
Fireplace and Stove Remote Controls Cause House Fire
An electric fireplace and stove recall has been issued due to fire and burn hazards, according to the Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC).
The remote control kits for Dimplex North America brand electric fire places and stoves have a plug-in wall unit that can overheat. The company is aware of one Columbus, Ohio house fire, 19 reports of damage to property and 5,000 reports of wall plug-in units overheating.
Roman Shades Pose Child Strangulation Hazard
Two Roman shade recalls are the latest in a long line of similar window blind recalls issued over the past few months due to a child strangulation hazard. Lutron Shading Solutions Roman Shades and Innovations and “At Home with Meijer” Roman Shades and Roll-Up Blinds are both being recalled, according to the Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC).
Ice Maker Recall due to Fire Hazard
An ice maker recall involves Scotsman Commercial Modular Cube Ice machines associated with four reports of fires and 37 reports of burned or melted components, according to the Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC).
The recalled ice machines (about 43,000 units) pose a fire hazard because an electrical part called a solenoid can fail. The manufacturer, Scotsman Group LLC, of Vernon Hills, Ill. has received no injury reports.
