Was a Defective Tire the Cause of the Bedore Tours Bus Accident in New York?

Two people were killed and 35 injured, four critically, when a tire blew out on a tour bus owned by Bedore Tours bus company, located in New York. The accident happened on I-390, about 55 miles southeast of Rochester, NY.

Evidence gathered at the scene, including tire marks and tire debris, points to front tire failure as the cause of the accident.  According to the American Bus Association, the front tires on the bus had been replaced within the last couple of months. This suggests that the tire that blew out was defective. If this is the case, the manufacturer of the tire is liable for the injuries and deaths caused by the defective tire. This means that the company that manufactured the tires will have to pay money to the accident victims and the families of those who died. This amount is usually covered by a manufacturer’s insurance company.

“Manufacturers of defective products need to be held accountable for the damage their products cause,” said national attorney Fred Pritzker. “Victims and families should be compensated for their medical expenses, pain, emotional suffering, lost time from work and other losses.”
