Kawasaki Motors Corp., U.S.A. is recalling model year 2009 Super Sherpa motorcycles due to blockage in an engine oil passage that could restrict oil flow to the cylinder head, according to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA). This may result in a loss of engine power or even make the engine stop, therefore posing a risk of a motorcycle crash. Owners should stop riding the recalled Kawasaki motorcycles and dealers will inspect the oil system and repair the cylinder head for free.

  • According to the NHTSA, in 2006 18.06 cars out of 100,000 ended up in fatal crashes. For motorcycles, that rate was 55.82 per 100,000.
