International LoneStar and ProStar Recall Over Brake Concerns

Semi Truck Recall

Semi TruckA trailer brake problem prompted Navistar, Inc., to recall 2009 and 2010 models of its International LoneStar and ProStar semi trucks, according to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA). The semi truck recall involves 1,437 International ProStar and LoneStar trucks that are equipped with feature code 04AZT roll stability control (RSC) system.

The RSC system is an electronic safety system that involves sensors that detect potential rollover situations, and automatically apply brakes to avoid a rollover. An air line may have been connected incorrectly on the recalled trucks, which affects air modulation to the trailer brakes if the RSC system is activated during a roll stability event.

Peterbilt 320 Trucks Recall due to Air Brake Problem

volvo truck defect lawsuitA Peterbilt 320 truck recall affects certain model year 2010 trucks with Hendrickson HLR2 non-steering pusher axle, according to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA).  These trucks, manufactured by Paccar, Inc., fail to comply with Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard No. 121, which regulates air brake systems.

The recalled trucks do not have enough air tanks to allow for proper operation of the vehicle’s air brake system, which could hinder the driver’s ability to stop the vehicle, therefore increasing the risk of a crash involving personal injury or death. Dealers will install and additional air reservoir at no charge.

Nissan Truck Recall Over Brake Issues

A Nissan UD 3300 truck recall was prompted by brakes that fail to comply with Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standards, according to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA).

About 1,166 Nissan trucks were recalled, including model years 1999 through 2010. The insufficient air tank reserve capacity on these vehicles can lead to restricted air supply that hinders brake operation, potentially resulting in reduced braking performance without warning to the driver and increasing the risk of a crash.

Kenworth Truck Recall Due to Possible Rear Axle Shift

volvo truck defect lawsuitAn axle assembly defect has prompted a recall of 914 Kenworth trucks, the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration announced Monday. The recall involves 2009 through 2010 T2000, T800, T660 and W900 models.  The U-bolts connecting the axle to the suspension leaf spring may not have received enough fastener torque during installation, which may allow the bolts to come loose.  This can cause vibration in the rear suspension and if multiple bolts come loose, the rear axle could shift resulting in a loss of control and possibly a crash. Dealers will inspect the axle U-bolts and make the appropriate repairs. Owners may contact Kenworth at 425-828-5440.
