Daniele Salami Lawsuit Against Spice Companies Over Salmonella
A Daniele salami Salmonella lawsuit has been filed against spice suppliers Wholesome Spice and Seasonings Inc. of Brooklyn, N.Y., and Mincing Trading Corp. of Dayton, N.J., according to news reports.1 Daniele, Inc. has recalled more than one million pounds of ready-to-eat salami (salame) since January because of a Salmonella Montevideo outbreak that was linked to contaminated spices used in the meats and supplied by Wholesome Spice and Mincing Trade Corp.
Heartland Black Pepper Salmonella Recall
A Heartland Foods black pepper recall is related to earlier recalls of Daniele salami that are associated with an outbreak that has so far sickened more than 200 nationwide. Heartland Foods, Inc. of Indianapolis, Ind. is recalling all sizes and containers of COARSE GROUND BLACK PEPPER shipped from their facility between Oct. 19, 2009 and Feb. 17, 2010 over concerns that it may contain Salmonella, a harmful pathogen that can cause a Salmonella infection (salmonellosis), according to the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA).
Salami Salmonella Recall May Be Associated With 184 Illnesses
A salami and sausage recall over Salmonella concerns may be associated with a multistate Salmonella outbreak, the USDA’s Food Safety and Inspection Service (FSIS) announced.
Daniele International Inc., which has operations in Pascoag and Mapleville, R.I., recalled about 1.24 million pounds of ready-to-eat (RTE) Italian sausage products. During an ongoing investigation of a nationwide Salmonella Montevideo outbreak, health officials tested salami products and discovered Salmonella in the sample.
