Rear End Bus Collision Risk Prompts Tail Light Bus Recall
Two bus recalls have been issued due to tail light defects that could pose a rear end bus collision risk, according to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA).
Bus Wheelchair Lifts Can Tip; Potentially Injure Passengers
A wheelchair lift defect can cause injury to passengers and bystanders, according to a recall announcement by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA).
Glaval Bus Division is recalling several 2007-2010 model transit buses with wheelchair lift defects. The recalled defective buses are equipped with certain Ricon S-series and K-series L-model wheelchair lifts that have a software defect which could cause the lift platform to stop at an angle, which could cause a person in a wheelchair to tip over, posing a fall hazard to that person and bystanders.
Navistar School Bus Recall due to Headlight Defect
A school bus recall involves potential headlight defects on certain Navistar brand school buses, the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) announced.
Certain 2010 models of the IC/FE and IC/RE school buses wires in the headlight electrical harness may have been incorrectly installed, which affects the intensity of the headlights.
City Transit Bus Recall due to Possible Steering Defect
A city transit bus recall involves a potential steering defect in 226 North American Bus Industries, Inc., (NABI) 416 models from 2009, according to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA). The recalled buses were manufactured between October 2008 and December 2009 and have a potential defect in the steering gear assembly, in which a mounting plate may not have been welded correctly.
If the weld does not hold, the plate may become separated, which could result in a loss of steering control to the driver and therefore increasing the risk of a crash. NABI will notify owners and repair the vehicles for free.
