Hyundai Tucson Airbag Recall Over Potential Child Injury
A 2010 Hyundai Tucson recall involves potentially defective airbags, according to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA). If a passenger in the front right passenger seat weighs more than approximately 240 pounds, this can cause the “passive occupant detection system” (PODS) to light up the air bag warning light. While that light is illuminated, the front passenger seat airbag will deploy in the event of a crash, and will not deactivate if a child is seated in the front passenger seat. This could cause an airbag injury to the child.
Honda Airbag Recall Expanded
A Honda air bag recall involves an additional 378,758 vehicles more than an earlier Honda airbag recall, American Honda Motor Company announced Tuesday.
This brings the 15-month-old Honda airbag vehicle recall total to nearly 1 million. According to Honda:
“The driver’s airbag inflators in these vehicles may deploy with too much pressure, which can cause the inflator casing to rupture and could result in injury or fatality.”
Hyundai Azera Defective Seatbelt Recall
Seat belt defect could prevent airbag deployment in a crash
A Hyundai Azera recall affects 65,226 models, years 2006 through 2009. Wiring on the passenger’s side front seatbelt may become damaged after repeated use. This could lead to damage of the seatbelt tension sensor wiring, causing the airbag to fail in the event of a crash.
