Fires Prompt GE Front Load Washer Recall
After seven reports of flames shooting out of GE Front-Load Washing Machines and causing smoke damage, Louisville, Kentucky-based GE is issuing a recall of about 181,000 units, according to the Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC).
Kitchen Fire Prompts Maytag Dishwasher Recall
After 12 fires, a dishwasher fire hazard recall is being issued by Maytag Corporation, according to the Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC).
About 1.7 million dishwashers are affected by the recall, which is being issued because an electrical failure in the machine’s heating mechanism poses a fire hazard to homes and burn injury risk to consumers. Maytag is aware of 12 fires that resulted from the heating mechanism failing, and one of those reports involved a fire that caused extensive kitchen damage. Although no fire burn injuries have been reported, the dishwashers pose a serious burn injury hazard.
