Wal-Mart Heater Recall Due to Fire Risk

Product liability attorneys at Pritzker Olsen law firm are warning consumers that Wal-Mart Stores, Inc. of Bentonville, Arkansas recalled about 2.2 million electric heaters after reports of fire and injury. The Wal-Mart heater recall involves the following heaters:

  • Flow Pro
  • Airtech
  • Aloha Breeze & Comfort Essentials

The recalled heaters are 1500 watt heaters and are grey with a metal handle on the top with vents and grey control knobs on the front. The model number is 1013 and can be found on a label on the lower left corner of the back panel of the heater.

According to the CPSC Wal-Mart heater recall announcement, the heaters can malfunction resulting in overheating, smoking, burning, melting and fire. The announcement also noted that Wal-Mart has received 21 reports of incidents, which included 11 reports of property damage beyond the heater. In four incidents, Injuries were reported in four incidents, three of which required medical attention for minor burns and smoke inhalation. The remaining incidents included smoke irritation, sparking or property damage beyond the heater.

Burn Injury Risk Prompts Fireworks Recall

fireworks burn injury lawsuitDue to a burn injury hazard, a burn injury product recall has been issued for Super Lightning Rocket Fireworks by Big Fireworks, according to the Consumer Product Safety Commission, (CPSC).

Almost 5,000 Super Lightning Rockets are being recalled by the Lansing, Michigan company because they are not compliant with federal regulations that designate the amount of explosive material that can be present in this product. These rockets are “overloaded with pyrotechnic composition,” according to the CPSC warning.

Burn Injury Fireworks Recall: Product Description

The rockets are 1.5 inches in diameter, mounted on a 32-inch wooden stick. They are wrapped in black paper with a solar system image background and “Super Rocket” printed on the label in various colors. Sold in packages of four, the recalled fireworks contain the item number GCR3150 on the front of the package and on the rockets themselves. They were sold from November 2009 through June 2010 at fireworks stores in the following states:

  • Florida
  • Indiana
  • Pennsylvania
  • Michigan

Consumers can contact Big Fireworks about receiving a refund, and should absolutely NOT use the hazardous fireworks.

Kitchen Fire Prompts Maytag Dishwasher Recall

dishwasher fire injury lawsuitAfter 12 fires, a dishwasher fire hazard recall is being issued by Maytag Corporation, according to the Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC).

About 1.7 million dishwashers are affected by the recall, which is being issued because an electrical failure in the machine’s heating mechanism poses a fire hazard to homes and burn injury risk to consumers. Maytag is aware of 12 fires that resulted from the heating mechanism failing, and one of those reports involved a fire that caused extensive kitchen damage. Although no fire burn injuries have been reported, the dishwashers pose a serious burn injury hazard.

Fireplace and Stove Remote Controls Cause House Fire

The remote control kits for Dimplex North America brand electric fire places and stoves have a plug-in wall unit that can overheat. The company is aware of one Columbus, Ohio house fire, 19 reports of damage to property and 5,000 reports of wall plug-in units overheating.
