Daniele Salami Salmonella Recall Expanded to Include Red Pepper
A salami Salmonella recall has been expanded for a second time by Daniele International Inc., of Rhode Island, according to the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Food Safety and Inspection Service (FSIS). The updated recall includes 115,000 pounds of salami (or salame) products that may be contaminated with Salmonella. The recall also includes Dietz & Watson and Boar’s Head brand salame.
This harmful bacterium can cause salmonellosis, including flu-like symptoms in healthy individuals, and more serious complications, such as Reiter’s Syndrome, particularly in children, the elderly and people with weakened immune systems.
