Pork Patty Mix Recall due to Wheat Allergy Risk
A wheat allergy concern prompted a recall of 750 pounds of frozen cured pork patty mix because wheat, a potential allergen, was not listed on the packaging as one of the product’s ingredients. Food allergies, including wheat allergies, can cause serious and sudden reactions including anaphylaxis and anaphylactic shock.
Champ Meatball Co., of Whittier, Calif., issued the recall on Feb. 10, according to the USDA’s Food Safety and Inspection Service (FSIS). The recall involves 14 -ounce packages of frozen “CHAMP, Nem Nuong Cured Pork Patty Mix for Barbecue Meat Balls.”
Pork Barbecue Recall Over Soy Allergic Reaction Concerns
A pork barbecue recall from Louisburg, N.C.-based Murphy House involves2,850 pounds of pork barbecue products that may contain soy flour, an undeclared allergen. The recall, announced by the USDA’s Food Safety and Inspection Service (FSIS), affects 5-lbs. buckets of “The Murphy House premium pork barbecue; cooked, unskinned pork with barbecue sauce added.” Each package bears the establishment number “EST. 2135″ inside the USDA mark of inspection.
