Wheat Allergy Recall of Frozen Turkey Patties
A frozen turkey patty recall has been issued due to wheat allergy concerns, according to the USDA’s Food Safety and Inspection Service (FSIS).
Daniel’s Western Meat Packers, based in Pico Rivera, Calif., recalled more than 16,000 pounds of frozen turkey patty products that were mislabeled and failed to list wheat as an ingredient. Because of wheat allergic reaction risks, any wheat ingredient in a food product is required by federal law to be listed on the food’s packaging.
Pork Patty Mix Recall due to Wheat Allergy Risk
A wheat allergy concern prompted a recall of 750 pounds of frozen cured pork patty mix because wheat, a potential allergen, was not listed on the packaging as one of the product’s ingredients. Food allergies, including wheat allergies, can cause serious and sudden reactions including anaphylaxis and anaphylactic shock.
Champ Meatball Co., of Whittier, Calif., issued the recall on Feb. 10, according to the USDA’s Food Safety and Inspection Service (FSIS). The recall involves 14 -ounce packages of frozen “CHAMP, Nem Nuong Cured Pork Patty Mix for Barbecue Meat Balls.”
